Quote of the week
“How can a 12-year-old choose to have an abortion if they’re not even allowed to buy a packet of cigarettes?”
– A dad-of-two lamenting the changes in the South African Children’s Bill.

It’s a bit like the States – you’re allowed to drive a car at 16, but God forbid you try and order a beer at a restaurant before you’re 21!

Now where is the logic in that, I ask you JoziJ? Perhaps they reckon at least there’ll be no drinking and driving for under-21s?
I think some of the changes to the Bill is good though. I mean, kids are having sex anyway, so it’s not as if this will suddenly make them promiscuous…right?

No Mrs M, it can never be spent. What would you two cents have bought if they were here now?

Brilliant! I fully agree…let them smoke. 😉
Just kidding (sort of).
This new thing with the 12-year olds is stupid – and wrong.

Well, actually, the law doesn’t say anything about abortion. It’s always been allowed. Somewhere, someone got stuck on that fact. Kids have been able to have abortions for forever. It’s the contraceptive and HIV-test thing that’s different.
